Incorporate Foresight2020 as a nonprofit
Once we incorporate as a 501c3, we will be able to raise funding and support for our effort to train additional political candidates to protect themselves against cyber intrusions.

Background & Context
Foresight2020 is a non-partisan effort to improve the cyber security of U.S. political campaigns. Our cyber defense and preparedness trainings are delivered for free to political candidates and their staff. To date, Foresight2020 has delivered in-person trainings to over 40 candidates, staff, and current office holders around the country. We're on track to have trained over 200 people, including about 150 virtually, by early May, and including 17 campaigns as of mid-April.
Immediate Problem
We would appreciate legal assistance in helping form as an entity (probably an LLC) so that we can apply as soon as possible for 501c3 status. We will then be able to apply for additional funding and accept tax-deductible donations so that we can continue our work.
Work & Deliverables
As mentioned, it would be helpful for a lawyer to guide us through the formation and incorporation processes. We hope our lawyer can take the lead on drafting documents and ensuring they are submitted in the proper order and to the proper authorities as quickly as possible.
Preparation Phase
- Intro call with volunteer coordinator. Lawyer provides estimate of filing fees.
Collaboration Phase
- Draft formation docs; submit entity formation docs in correct order.
Wrap Up
- Apply for 501c3 status.
